Custom software development

Software that adapts to how your business works, instead of the other way around. Built by an engineer who runs his own products in production.

The package almost does what you need

It usually starts small. An off-the-shelf package that covers eighty percent, and a colleague who patches up the rest by hand every week. A spreadsheet that has quietly grown into the place where your planning, your stock or your quotes live. It works, until the person who maintains it goes on holiday, or two people edit the same file at once.

Custom software fixes exactly that: one place where the work lives, built around your process, usable by several people at once, and still standing when the business grows.

What we build

Web applications, internal tools and APIs. Software your customers work with, or software that takes over the manual work inside the company: planning, registration, quotes, reporting. We connect it to the systems you already run, your accounting software, your webshop, your CRM, so nothing is entered twice.

We would rather ship the smallest version that is solid and grow it than deliver something broad that cannot hold weight. That first version is often live within weeks, and the software then grows with what practice shows you need.

This is not theory. We build and run our own products, among them TenderScan.nl and Supertaak, software that users lean on every day. The choices we make for your project are choices we have to live with in our own work.

What a project looks like

  1. Introduction. You describe what is in the way, we ask questions. Free, no strings. We are based in Ede, the Netherlands, and work for clients at home and abroad.
  2. Scope and proposal. We write down what the first version must do, what it deliberately will not do yet, and what it costs. Not a forty-page quote, but a document you can base a decision on.
  3. Building in steps. You review working software along the way. Course corrections happen per step, not at final delivery.
  4. Go-live and operations. We put it in production and keep it running: monitoring, backups, updates. Or we hand it over to your own team, with documentation.

What it costs

As an indication. A small tool that solves one task: from €500. A small internal tool or a first working version: usually between €500 and €2,500. A full web application with multiple roles and integrations: usually between €2,500 and €15,000. Further development after that happens in scoped steps, so you decide per step.

The price is driven mostly by the number of screens and user roles, the number of integrations with other systems, and how much still needs to be figured out. That is why every proposal starts with scoping: the most expensive piece of software is the piece you did not need.

Frequently asked questions

What does custom software development cost?

As an indication: a small tool that solves one task starts from €500. A small internal tool or a first working version usually lands between €500 and €2,500. A full web application usually between €2,500 and €15,000. The biggest cost drivers are the number of screens and user roles, the number of integrations, and how much still needs to be figured out. You get a proposal up front with a clearly scoped first version.

How long does a custom software project take?

A first working version is usually live within six to twelve weeks. We release intermediate versions along the way, so from the first weeks you review working software rather than slides.

Is custom software not far more expensive than off-the-shelf?

Up front, often yes. The difference shows in the years after: no per-seat licences, no subscriptions to five packages that each cover a part, and no manual work to bridge the gaps between them. When an off-the-shelf package is the better choice, we say so. That happens.

Who maintains the software after delivery?

We do, if you want us to. We build and operate our own products and do the same for clients: monitoring, backups, updates and further development. The code is and stays yours, so another party can take over at any time.
