A software audit before you sign
An independent second opinion on a proposal, an existing system or an acquisition. By an engineer with twenty years of experience and no stake in the outcome.
Signing for something you cannot judge
A quote for tens of thousands of euros, written in terms the vendor chose. A system your business leans on, built by a party that has since left. A company you want to acquire, where the software is a large part of the value. In all three cases you have to decide on something you cannot verify yourself.
Everyone around you has a stake: the vendor wants to sell, your own team does not want its work criticised. What is missing is someone who knows how software is built and earns nothing from you except the verdict itself.
What we do
We review what is on the table: the quote, the proposal, the code, the security posture, the hosting bill, or the platform of the company you plan to acquire. We read what it says and what it does not say, because that is where the surprises live: what is left unscoped, who owns the code, what year two costs.
You receive a written verdict with the reasoning, ordered by what weighs heaviest, in language you can hand to your co-founder or accountant. With the concrete questions to put to the vendor before you sign.
The verdict comes from practice. We build and run production software ourselves, including our own products TenderScan.nl and Supertaak, so we know where quotes are too good and where systems really break.
What a project looks like
- Intake. What is on the table, what you must decide, and by when. An audit almost always fits inside your decision window.
- Review. We read, test and ask. For an existing system we look into the code and the infrastructure.
- Written verdict. What is sound, what is missing, what it should cost, and what we would do. Plus the list of questions for your vendor.
- Walkthrough. We go through the verdict together, at your office or over a call. We are based in Ede, the Netherlands.
What it costs
As an indication: usually between €500 and €2,000, depending on the size of what has to be reviewed. Always a fixed fee agreed up front. Against a decision worth tens of thousands, it is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
Frequently asked questions
What does a software audit cost?
As an indication: an audit or second opinion usually costs between €500 and €2,000, agreed as a fixed fee up front. That tends to be a fraction of the amount you are about to decide on.
What exactly do I receive?
A written verdict with the reasoning, in language you can hand to your co-founder or accountant. Ordered by what weighs heaviest: what is sound, what is missing, which questions to put to the vendor, and what to watch in the contract.
Do you audit existing software or only proposals?
Both. We review quotes and proposals, and we audit existing systems: the code, the security posture, the hosting, or the platform of a company you plan to acquire (technical due diligence).
Will you then offer to do the work yourselves?
No, and that is the point. You are buying a verdict, not a quote in disguise. If the vendor made a good proposal, we say so. If we do want to bid on something, we say that up front and step aside as reviewer.
What is on your table?
Send us what you have to decide on. Within two working days we tell you whether a review makes sense and what it costs.
